Description
Provides eligible Alberta residents with full coverage for medically necessary physician services, and some dental and oral surgical health services.

Service offers:

  • full coverage for medically necessary physician services, and some dental and oral surgical health services to eligible Albertans

Medical services covered includes:

  • medically required services provided by a physician
  • psychiatrist visits
  • medically required diagnostic services including laboratory, radiological, and other diagnostic procedures
  • medically required surgery, including breast augmentation and mastectomy for transgender surgery when approved under Alberta's Gender Reaffirming Surgery Program and bariatric surgery for Albertans who are eligible under the Weight Wise program
  • oral and maxillofacial surgery services
  • standard ward hospitalization
  • use of the operating room, care room, radiotherapy, physiotherapy, and anesthetic facilities
  • and more

Partial coverage for some podiatry, optometry, and dental services received in Alberta only. Your physician determines what insured services are considered medically necessary.

Eligibility
Yes, Service targeted to:
  • permanent residents of Alberta
  • who are legally entitled to be or to remain in Canada
  • who are committed to being physically present in Alberta for at least 183 days in a 12 month period
  • who are not claiming residency or obtaining benefits under a claim of residency in another province, territory, or country
  • any other person deemed by the regulations to be a resident or temporary resident, not including a tourist, transient, or visitor to Alberta
