- Yes, Suspicion of an Inherited Metabolic Disorder (IMD) may be considered for one or more of the following reasons:
- positive newborn screen result
- suggestive clinical presentation
- suggestive laboratory results
- suggestive diagnostic imaging findings
- family history of a confirmed IMD in a close relative
