- Adult day programs (ADPs) are for people over the age of 18 who require services to help maintain or improve their physical and cognitive function.
Adult day programs (ADPs) are for people over the age of 18 who require services to help maintain or improve your physical and cognitive function. ADPs provide opportunities for an individual to be part of group activities in a supervised environment. Staff provide social and physical activities in a safe, structured setting. When attending an ADP site in-person, for a full day, a nutritious snack and lunch is provided.
Adult day programs can offer caregiver support and respite, as well as a variety of professional and support services.
Affiliation: Day Program referrals are triaged and waitlisted by Alberta Health Services.

- Yes, Anyone who is over the age of 18 and could benefit from the following services:
- social activities like reminiscing, coffee chats, card games, entertainment
- physical activities like group exercise, floor curling / hockey, walks
- cognitive activities like brain games, word games, board games and mind teasers
- assistance with daily tasks, as needed (e.g reminders to take medication, help with clothing, toileting and setting up for eating)
- health and wellness education opportunities for you and your family / caregivers

- Service Access: See below, To enroll in an adult day program, contact your Home Care case manager or call Community Care Access.

Waiting Period: Yes,To see if an adult day program is right for you, talk to your AHS case manager. Once a referral is received an Intake Case Manager will review your file and may contact you and /or your family to discuss the best program to meet your identified needs. Your name will be added to the waitlist. Wait times will vary depending on the demands for the program you are waiting for.
The day program site staff will contact you and/or your family when they have a space. They will provide information on days you can attend, program schedule and details on services.

Adult day programs charge a nominal fee of $15 per visit, which includes a meal and/or a snack while you are at the program. You will need reliable transportation and are responsible for covering transportation costs.
Fee Reduction: Yes,Cost should not be a barrier to accessing adult day programs. If you have any questions or concerns about fees, please contact your case manager.
