Description
Provides transdisciplinary assessment and consultation services to children with special needs.

Service offers:

  • transdisciplinary assessment and consultation services for children with special needs and their families, caregivers, teachers, and other professionals involved

Includes:

  • child assessment, consultation, and follow - up support services
  • strategies, answers, and continued support
  • a comprehensive report of the child's strengths and needs, with suggestions
  • continued contact after the program to provide support to the home and links to community programs
  • observing how the child learns and interacts
  • listening to client's concerns and experiences to better understand their child's reactions in different environments

Provides information specific to child development in the following areas:

  • motor sensory speech / language and communication
  • intellectual
  • social / emotional
  • educational
Affiliation: Partnered with Disability Services - Central Region.Key Provider: behaviour specialists, occupational therapists, psychologists, special education / early childhood teachers, speech language pathologists
Eligibility
Yes, Service targeted to:
  • 18 months to 7 years
  • who are residents of Disability Services - Central Region
Application Process
Service Access: Professional Referral Required, To access service:
  • application / referral forms may be obtained by phone, mail, or in person
  • information and forms may be found on website
Referrals may be made by any concerned individuals who have had contact with the child including parents, teachers, doctors, daycare staff, or community health nurses.Referral Process: No
