- Provides an emergency shelter and 24 hour crisis line for women.
Service offers:
- an emergency shelter for women who are involved in abusive intimate partner relationships
Includes:
- a 24 bed crisis unit for women and children fleeing abuse
- safe emergency place for a maximum of 21 days
- 24-hour access to counselling, support staff and crisis line
- education sessions about the impact of family violence on children, the cycle and dynamics of violence, and safety planning, both during and after clients' stay
- advocacy and referrals
Provides the following support services to clients of Harbour House:
- outreach services for people who have experienced family or sexual violence
- assistance navigating challenges and accomplishing goals that will transition them into living a safe life
- mobile services to assist people in the community
- assistance working through immediate crises and navigating the legal systems
- support for police intervention, medical appointments, and social services issues
- help obtaining stable housing and support through other aspects of managing their homes
- assistance finding funding and working with outside resources such as Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped (AISH), Alberta Works, and housing associations within the community
Childcare may be available during counselling, intake, or legal appointments.
Transportation available for specific reasons such as attending medical or legal appointments, visiting the food bank, and more.
