Description
Patient requiring chest surgery under the Thoracic service are admitted to this unit.

Provides surgery for people with chest (thoracic) problems including:

  • thoracotomies (opening the chest wall)
  • pneumonectomies (taking out a lung)
  • surgery for other lung diseases

Key Provider: licensed practical nurses (LPNs), nurse practitioners (NPs), occupational therapists (OTs), pharmacists, physical therapists, registered nurses (RNs), social workers, thoracic surgeons
