- This sub-specialty provides highly specialized imaging for diagnostic, interventional, and therapeutic procedures.
Procedures may require injection of radiopaque contrast material (x-ray dye). Local anaesthetic and / or light sedation may be required during the procedure. Angiography is done on the head, neck, chest, abdomen, and arms and legs. The types of interventional procedures include procedures to repair aneurysms, carotid (artery) stent insertions, embolizations, genito-urinary tube replacements, PICC (Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter) lines and many others.
